Softimage and Develop magazine launch ‘Incubator’ program

Softimage and Develop magazine launch ‘Incubator’ to assist start-up game developers.
Softimage, together with Develop Magazine (UK), is offering game developers a targeted incentive for getting Softimage|XSI software set up as their game pipeline with a deferred leasing program, that requires no down payment and lets them concentrate on creativity, building a solid game title concept and securing funding for perhaps the next break out game title for PCs or next-generation game console.
The Softimage Incubator Program will give approved game developer applicants access to Softimage|XSI software at zero cost during the first year of start-up, with an easy transition to fixed quarterly payments for the remaining two years of the program’s three year term. By removing the financial barriers of entry for game developers, this program allows start-up companies to preserve cash flow, and keep energies focused on the creative process.
The Softimage Incubator program is targeted primarily at the rapidly expanding casual game space and will offer developers who have great gaming ideas a way to start up with less front-end financial investment on their software tools. The powerful game-centric features and open connected workflows in Softimage|XSI software used by successful game companies such as Lionhead Studios, Pandemic, CAPCOM, SEGA Corporation, and Crytek, will equip start-up game developers with the creative tools they need to bring their ideas to market quickly.
“With the wider availability of enabling technologies and better access to distribution, the opportunities for independent game development is growing at a record pace,“ said Marc Stevens, general manager of Softimage and vice president of Avid Technology. “The Incubator Program enables upcoming talent in the industry to develop their game ideas and showcase their creativity without the typical financial hurdles. Flexible financing is just one of the latest additions to a suite of products and services designed to meet the needs of a quickly evolving industry.”
Softimage is accepting applications for the Incubator Program Trial immediately. Application closes on July 1, 2008. All applicants must be registered as a business with a project concept by July 1st.

So normally I would give you excuses about why I was gone.
Instead, I'll spare you the details and explain what I've been accomplishing.
So obviously you'll notice the new template. That doesn't explain my few months absence, but it covers most of it.
Why did we need a new template? Well, basically the old one was getting run down, it was unstable. It was a table based layout, it's been outdated since last year. It was messy, oh god was it messy. Piping held together with paper clips and gum. It was time for a change.
Some of you may have seen how I originally had the new template, it's been in the works for a few months. It started off all clean, web 2.0, greens, blues, yellow. I got a lot of feedback, but most of it was skeptical.
I get compliments every day about the look of 22. I thought it would be more appealing to the public to go bright and smooth. Though, I realized ( a bit late mind you), that thats not what we're about. It's not what the community wants.
It's about the shades of black and the #12ACFE blue.
Well, you might think thats just a change of colors / images, it couldn't possibly take that long.
Well in addition to the whole site, I created an entire forum template to go along with the mainstream colors.
And lastly, I completely recoded the entire back end of the resources section of the site. The coolest part? It will soon be linked with your forum profile. One profile will span the entire site. This eliminates the need for an admin to approve a submitted resource.
Why are we not PHPBB 3.0? Well PHPBB3 just doesn't support all the cool stuff that already exists on our boards.
Things are still missing from the site, like, the actual site itself. But having the site live makes me eager to finish it.
If it aint broke, don't fix it.
