What are the Glaring Points of Taylormade R11 irons?
Taylormade have really taken the golf world by storm in 2012 with their R11 driver; probably the most talked about item of golf equipment so far this century. However the R11 driver may well be pushed out of the spotlight as on September 1st 2011 finally saw the launch of the much anticipated R11 irons as they hit the shelves. Designed to suit golfers of all handicaps, the new Taylormade R11 Irons uses advanced technology to launch the ball straight and long, giving greater lift with less effort. Not only does the R11 iron play just as confidently as its counterpart, the R11 driver, it also looks the business too.
The TaylorMade R11 Irons features a dual head design made for both performance and control. the 3-5 irons feature a high repulsion face with hollow cavity structure for increased distance. The 6-Wedge feature a more compact undercut pocket cavity with a focus on feel, control and accuracy. The R11 features variable face thickness. Starting with 2.0mm thick face in the long irons to 2.3mm in the mid irons and 2.5mm in the short irons for enhanced feel.
The Taylormade R11 pack in a heightened COR via a "Velocity-Control Chamber", VCC foam, silicone shock absorber, and a vibration-silencing cavity bridge that work in unison to reduce vibration, and an Optimized Inverted Cone that brings a larger COR area and improved control over your shot distance.
Given that there is decent sized cavity in the back of the heads, you hardly notice it visually and the sound at impact of the Taylormade R11 irons sale is very good, whilst not being as completely solid as say a blade iron. They are very forgiving on mis-hits, although this forgiveness makes shaping the ball a little harder if you are trying for small fades or draws. Bigger movements in shot shape are easier, so the shot shapers among you may prefer the taylormade burner 2.0 irons.
